This is one of my mom’s specialties. She would make this as an appetizer for a party or sometimes in lieu of Christmas cookies she would deliver warm loaves of pepperoni bread. I changed the type of pepperoni to the sandwich version you get at the deli simply for ease, but it is basically the same bread she has been making for years.
Prep time – 40 minutes / Cook time – 20 minutes
- 1 loaf of frozen bread dough
- 1/2lb. pound of thin sliced sandwich pepperoni or 16 slices
- 1 1/2 c. package whole mozzarella, shredded
- 1/4 c. grated parmesan cheese
- 1 t. Garlic powder
- 1 t. Onion powder
- 1 t. Basil
- 1 t. Oregano
- 1 t. Parsley
- Salt and pepper
- 2 T. Butter, melted
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Defrost dough and let come to room temperature. On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough to a rectangle. Place pepperoni slices on rectangle, sprinkle with shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Sprinkle evenly over pepperoni cheese layer the onion powder, garlic powder, basil, oregano, parsley, salt and pepper Roll up and seal edges. Brush with melted butter and place on greased cookie sheet. Cover and let rise fro 30 minutes. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Cool 10 minutes before slicing.
